New Trend of Upcycling Has Been a Practice at Pillow Galleria For Many Years

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

Tampa Bay, FL – June 27, 2018 – Paula Albinson, owner, and creator of Pillow Galleria has always been an advocate of using upcycled materials to create her unique one-of-a-kind designer pillows. Lately upcycling has frequently been in the news, especially as it pertains to the clothing industry. Even the Wall Street Journal devoted a full page to this new trend where upscale designers are using old, used or leftover fabrics as the base of their new clothing creations.

This hot trend is sure to branch out from the clothing industry into the home furnishing arena. Albinson has been at the forefront of this trend for many years and has made it a practice to combine materials from various sources in the creation process of her one-of-a-kind designer pillows that instantly change the look of an entire room. Her pillows are loaded with color, texture, decorative piping and hand beaded trim that turn a tired room into a new and vibrant space.

Currently, Polo Ralph Lauren, Missoni, and Victor and Rolf labels are among the designers using upcycled vintage fabrics. Why? It’s all part of the “green” movement where the life of items is extended and repurposed. In the past, most of the unused fabrics and clothing were deposited in land fills, which are known to hurt the environment. Another plus of upcycling is that there no two creations are alike and each piece is unique.

Albinson has an impressive history in the fashion, cosmetic and design industries, having worked in both New York and San Francisco before moving to St. Petersburg, FL in 2008. She took her passion for upcycled hand-crafted art to a new level with Pillow Galleria and explains “as a designer I had access to many beautiful fabrics which were only available to those in the design trade. I wanted others to have the opportunity to enjoy designer fabrics and trimmings; pillows were the perfect way to showcase them with a variety of texture and color.”

The process from idea to completion takes a great deal of thought and time. Beginning with the assembly of a group of fabrics, trims and etc. that work well together and then adding a number of accent fabrics, beads and trimmings, each pillow becomes a work of art. Albinson personally hand sews each pillow front and back. No two pillows are ever alike.

Local Pillow Designer Announces New Creative and Educational E-Commerce Website

Pillow Galleria Website
St. Petersburg, FL – February 1, 2018, Paula Albinson, owner of Pillow Galleria, felt it was time to take a new creative approach to her custom designed hand-crafted pillow e-commerce website.

Unlike most machine-made pillows on the market, Albinson’s pillows are one-of-a-kind unique designs that incorporate upcycled designer fabrics and trimmings. The goal of the new website was to create a successful e-commerce platform that showcases the steps and elements that go into the labor-intensive craft of creating custom pillows.

Pillow Galleria was born out of Albinson’s passion for hand-crafted art. Her background in the fashion, cosmetic and design industries had provided her access “to many beautiful fabrics that were only available to those in the design trade. My love of the designer fabrics and hand-crafted products was the driving force behind my decision to create my own line of designer pillows,” said Albinson.

Combining retail and education on Pillow Galleria’s website is intended to make the visitor’s experience not only user-friendly but informative and visually alluring. Each of Albinson’s handmade pillow designs is showcased in the gallery where you can view each pillow’s front, back, enlarged close up showing the details of the weave and trim application, and detailed information and specifications specific to the pillow being viewed.

The website also includes a section devoted to the design process. This section walks one through the entire custom design process from designer fabric selection to finish trimmings. It illustrates how each pillow is hand-sewn into a one-of-a-kind design. Also important is the Blog section where Albinson posts articles showcasing the world of custom products. Each blog features commentary from Albinson and a photo with the link to the original article. Visitors are welcome to leave their comments about each blog.
