Color Trends 2018

We all love to gather paint samples from our favorite suppliers trying to match them to our favorite project. This beige is lighter than that…this red is too bright. What to do??

Pantone is the bible of color. Each year color professionals, specialists, and interior designers study sociological, financial, and current event happenings in our country to determine what colors we, as a country, would be comfortable having in our home spaces or clothing selections. This link shows you the Pantone Color choices for 2018.
The colors are put into categories…
Deep and medium tones on the upper two layers.
The third color group shows 2018 basics which can be used in your home or clothing selections along with the top two layers of stronger shades. Please spend time on the Pantone site; you will learn about colors you favor for 2018!

Every year design pros evaluate the market, manufacturers, and designers to forecast new trends.

The attached link is from the Wall Street Journal (Saturday/Sunday, January 6/7 2018) showing what new trends we can look forward to in-home design for 2018. Below is a simple recap…

What Is Out

-moody gray hues

-hard lined/angular furniture…less formal living

-highly polished hardware…kitchen pulls/faucets/sinks

-lab like kitchens…less stainless steel, gray and white

What Is In

-abstractions of nature…allover organic approach to pattern

-soft pastels, colors from nature…not brights…but earthier tones

-soft curves, layering, and sensuous shapes

-living metals such as brass and copper…finishes that develop character over time

-more color in kitchens…cabinets, appliances
