Local Pillow Designer Announces New Creative and Educational E-Commerce Website

Pillow Galleria Website
St. Petersburg, FL – February 1, 2018, Paula Albinson, owner of Pillow Galleria, felt it was time to take a new creative approach to her custom designed hand-crafted pillow e-commerce website.

Unlike most machine-made pillows on the market, Albinson’s pillows are one-of-a-kind unique designs that incorporate upcycled designer fabrics and trimmings. The goal of the new website was to create a successful e-commerce platform that showcases the steps and elements that go into the labor-intensive craft of creating custom pillows.

Pillow Galleria was born out of Albinson’s passion for hand-crafted art. Her background in the fashion, cosmetic and design industries had provided her access “to many beautiful fabrics that were only available to those in the design trade. My love of the designer fabrics and hand-crafted products was the driving force behind my decision to create my own line of designer pillows,” said Albinson.

Combining retail and education on Pillow Galleria’s website is intended to make the visitor’s experience not only user-friendly but informative and visually alluring. Each of Albinson’s handmade pillow designs is showcased in the gallery where you can view each pillow’s front, back, enlarged close up showing the details of the weave and trim application, and detailed information and specifications specific to the pillow being viewed.

The website also includes a section devoted to the design process. This section walks one through the entire custom design process from designer fabric selection to finish trimmings. It illustrates how each pillow is hand-sewn into a one-of-a-kind design. Also important is the Blog section where Albinson posts articles showcasing the world of custom products. Each blog features commentary from Albinson and a photo with the link to the original article. Visitors are welcome to leave their comments about each blog.

Open Up Your Kitchen!

Most home remodels today want the finished project to feel and look open.

Older homes usually have smaller rooms walled off which for today’s lifestyle feels confined. Families today like the feeling of openness with style and fresh air flowing throughout. What is the most popular room in the house when you are entertaining?  Of course, it is the kitchen/cooking area. Often guests either bring cooked dishes or help the cook with her menu. Small rooms or walled off areas tend to make space feel narrow and confined. Traditional Home shows a very unique way to create openness to the kitchen area.

This is a home with very tall ceilings but the concept could be duplicated in homes with standard eight or nine-foot ceilings. The windowed wall has glass doors, glass panels, and operable glass panel windows. Although a separate space is created for the kitchen, openness is enhanced by the use of glass and the open window panes. Guests can also be located in the next room and still feel a part of the kitchen preparations. Openness, inclusiveness, and warmth are the goal for a newly renovated kitchen space.

Granite stone colors are two different neutral tones…gray and beige.  Each area which is a separate room has a separate color scheme with the kitchen being in the gray tones and the neutral beige being in the seating/bar space. Cabinetry also is in two colors corresponding with the stone color. This creates a calm color shift and adds interest in the space.

This photograph creates true openness for you and your guests. Go ahead and open the walls in your home creating a warm and inviting space. I bet you will entertain with joy and more often. Go ahead, be creative and create inviting spaces in your home.

Welcome to Pillow Galleria and My Very First Blog!

I was an interior designer in California for twenty years. When thinking about a move towards a less hectic life I thought about the clients I was able to serve in my years as a designer.

My range of projects included large remodels of homes, kitchens, and bathrooms plus a wide range of consultation projects. I loved all of the large projects but the consultations were very rewarding because in a relatively short amount of time we changed a house to a home.

Consistently in the interview process, I heard clients express confusion about how to create a room that felt warm and inviting. Many told me they seldom entertained because the space did not reflect who they were nor their style or personality. And so we started with the basics of space planning, lighting, paint, and accessories. Often purchasing a new sofa or chair was not in the budget so we worked with items that were smaller and able to be relocated to different areas of the room to creating a new look.

After the room was re-designed, we went to the next phase which usually included paint, larger accessories such as pillows and lighting. Towards the end of the project, we relocated smaller accessories such as wall artwork, coffee table books, and miscellaneous accessories to the appropriate areas of the room.

My clients were so pleased with the outcome and the comment I heard most often was they finally felt the space reflected who they were and that now they enjoyed entertaining. I was thrilled.

The focus of this blog will take various design concepts, elements, materials and cover them in each blog. Perhaps, paint will be a topic…how bright…color range…finish…how many colors…and etc. I invite you to e-mail me with your comments which will add more ideas to blog about.

I am very excited about my one of a kind pillow atelier designs at www.pillowgalleria.com as well as sharing twenty years of design experience with each of you.

Remember…love is in the details.

Sincerely,

Paula Albinson
